About

If architecture is a language, a building is its story.
The firm was established in 1993 by architect Eli Armon after completing his role as City Engineer of Be'er Sheva. In its thirty years of activity, the firm has developed expertise in three areas – mass transportation hubs, public buildings, and urban planning. Armon Architects is among the leading designers of railway stations in Israel. In addition to planning the Tel Aviv M2 Metro line and its 24 stations, Armon has also designed the Be'er Sheva Center, Lehavim, Wolfson, Ben Gurion Airport Rail Link, and Ben Gurion Airport Upper Rail Link stations. Armon's public buildings are characterized by a unique appearance that stands out in the urban landscape. Among the most prominent are the "Burning Bush" Synagogue at Bahad 1, Yad Sarah in Be'er Sheva, the Ministry of Agriculture Gilat Farm, the Be'er Avraham Visitor Center, and the Sanhedrin Museum in Yavne. Armon specializes in large-scale urban planning, having designed neighborhoods encompassing tens of thousands of housing units and millions of square meters of employment, commercial, and industrial areas in Ashkelon, Netivot, Yeruham, Dimona, Rishon LeZion, Mazkeret Batya, Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Ekron, Mitzpe Ramon, and Beit Shemesh. In some cases, their plans have doubled the size of cities. The firm currently employs dozens of architects and engineers operating from two branches – in Be’er Sheva and Tel Aviv, working on projects across the country.

Architect Eli Armon, a native of Tel Aviv and graduate of the Borochov Labor Movement youth group, studied electronics engineering at the Ort Singalowski Vocational School. He served as a Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) in the IDF and graduated from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning. He also holds a 8th Dan black belt in Denis Jiu-Jitsu survival skills. Armon served as City Engineer of Immanuel and Be'er Sheva. Since 1993 he has headed Armon Architects and Urban Planners Ltd. His architectural work spans the spectrum from furniture design to interior design, building design and urban planning. His multifaceted personality transcends conventional professional perceptions, viewing architectural design as the realization of ideas, existential insights and life cycles manifested as a unified, multifaceted creation. His work is that of a curious explorer stemming from sources, the Hebrew language, Jewish tradition, Kabbalah, the Land of Israel and its landscapes, world cultures, and martial arts with their universal meanings. His work is accompanied by an unceasing pursuit of the root and origin of creation. In his view, there is a cognitive match between generalship and architecture, not for nothing is it said "the architect of victory."

Architect Assaf Armon, born in Ramat HaSharon and raised in Omer, continues his father's tradition working at the firm's Be'er Sheva office. He began his career as a 3D and stop motion animator, studying at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and the Israel Animation College (IAC). Asaf holds a B.A from Ariel University, where he was twice awarded the Dean's Distinguished Student award, and a M.U.R.P. in Urban and Regional Planning at the Technion. Asaf is also a pastry chef, graduating from Estella's Master Class, a certified barman, and a certified tennis coach from the Wingate Institute. He is married to Maor and father to Itamar and Alona.

Architect Michael Yaniv, born in Tel Aviv and raised in Givatayim, is a graduate of the Ort Technikum and the Technological College with a degree in Architectural Engineering. He holds a B.Arch from Pratt Institute, NY and an MUE in Urban Engineering from the Technion, Haifa. Michael has worked at Armon Architects since 2012. In 2020 he relocated from Hod HaSharon to the town of Lehavim near the Armon office. In his spare time, Michael is an amateur photographer, having studied at the Camera Obscura photography school in Tel Aviv. He is married to Gila and father to Shira.
