About
If architecture is a language, a building is its story.
The company was founded in 1993 by architect Eliezer Armon after completing his tenure as the City Engineer of Be'er Sheva. Over its thirty years of operation, the firm has developed expertise in three key areas: transportation hubs and mass transit systems, public buildings, and urban planning (Master Plans). Armon Architects is among the leading firms in designing railway stations in Israel. Notable projects include the Be'er Sheva Center, Lehavim, Wolfson, Aviation (Shoham), and Ashkelon City of Wine stations. The company is involved in the planning of approximately 40% of the metro stations in Israel, both on the M2 line (statutory planning) and the M1 line (preliminary planning). Armon's public buildings are distinguished by their unique and prominent appearance in the urban landscape, with each telling its own story. Noteworthy examples include the "Burning Bush" Synagogue at the IDF's Officer Training School (Bahad 1), the "Yad Sarah" Building in Be'er Sheva, the Ministry of Agriculture's Gilat Research Center, the Abraham's Well Visitor Center, and the Sanhedrin Museum in Yavne. In the field of urban planning, the company has designed neighborhoods covering a cumulative area of over 70 million square meters, including around 100,000 housing units and millions of square meters of commercial, industrial, and office space in Ashkelon, Netivot, Yeruham, Dimona, Rishon LeZion, Mazkeret Batya, Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Ekron, Mitzpe Ramon, and Beit Shemesh. In some cases, their plans have doubled the size of the city. In 2012, Eliezer's son, Asaf, joined the firm. Today, the firm has over 20 employees, operating from offices in Be'er Sheva and Tel Aviv, and is responsible for projects throughout Israel.
Architect Eli Armon, a native of Tel Aviv and graduate of the Borochov Labor Movement youth group, studied electronics engineering at the Ort Singalowski Vocational School. He served as a Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) in the IDF and graduated from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning. He also holds a 8th Dan black belt in Denis Jiu-Jitsu survival skills. Armon served as City Engineer of Immanuel and Be'er Sheva. Since 1993 he has headed Armon Architects and Urban Planners Ltd. His architectural work spans the spectrum from furniture design to interior design, building design and urban planning. His multifaceted personality transcends conventional professional perceptions, viewing architectural design as the realization of ideas, existential insights and life cycles manifested as a unified, multifaceted creation. His work is that of a curious explorer stemming from sources, the Hebrew language, Jewish tradition, Kabbalah, the Land of Israel and its landscapes, world cultures, and martial arts with their universal meanings. His work is accompanied by an unceasing pursuit of the root and origin of creation. In his view, there is a cognitive match between generalship and architecture, not for nothing is it said "the architect of victory."
