"If you have the heart to know the spring from which your ancestors, who were killed in the days of evil, drew such a goat, greatness of soul... If you have the heart to know the stronghold to whose head your forefathers fell from their souls... to Beit Midrash Sur, the old and the old..." from "Im yesh nafshe'ha lada'at" H.N. Bialik. A source of inspiration for the connection between the existing synagogue building and the Holocaust Museum, through a shared square, designed as an arrow pointing towards Jerusalem. Through the positioning and unification between the buildings, we created a new north arrow, which points towards the place where the source of life of the Jewish people, Jerusalem, is hidden. Bialik and the compass served as our sources of inspiration and the design of the complex.
A two-story building. On the basement floor: an exhibition floor, trainings and an auditorium. On the entrance floor: the service rooms for the public and the classrooms. On the roof floor: a cafeteria, which also serves as a view balcony and a spectacular view of the Galilee landscape.
